Where are all the lights? We love living in New England during this festive time of year. The first fallen snow is covering the ground and we have lots of winter holidays to celebrate! There’s no better way than getting outdoors to enjoy the winter festivities and to admire lots and lots of bright and beautiful lights! Here’s a quick round-up of where to go to see all the glistening this time of year!

Walk Through Lights

Candlelight Stroll at Strawbery Banke
Portsmouth, NH
Strawbery Banke Museum’s furnished historic houses are adorned with handmade decorations created from greens and dried flowers from the Museum’s heirloom gardens. As visitors travel from house to historic house, the glow of hundreds of candle lanterns light the way and guests enjoy seasonal greetings from costumed role-players and performers who recreate the traditions of times past.

Winter Wonders at Sandy Hill Farm

Enjoy the beauty of winter and the holiday season! Winter Wonders 2025-26 is a World-Class Light Show experience located nearby in Eliot, Maine! With over 2 Million Lights, our engaging, creative, and unique 14-acre light display is the Largest and Most Immersive Walk-Through Light Show display in New England.

Roughly one-mile trail winds through 14 acres of Enchanting Hardwood Forest. Most of the trail is on gentle, rolling terrain with a few moderate elevation changes. It will take about an hour to see everything. You will be able to go around at your own pace. The Light Displays and Exhibits are Illuminating, Immersive, Awesome, and some are Interactive so that you can walk through them and experience them up close.

The Holly Jolly Journey

Mel’s Funway Park is pleased to be the home of the HOLLY JOLLY JOURNEY!

The Holly Jolly Journey is a magnificent holiday light show where family & friends come together to walk this never before experienced journey. Spanning over ⅔ of a mile, we invite you to stroll through the Zoo of Lights, down Candy Cane Lane, inside our Ice Cave and into the North Pole. From high in the sky, to where you walk below, all around millions of lights will glow!

Patrons will not only enjoy breathtaking light displays, but a variety of food and refreshment stations along their journey. Holiday music and numerous photo opportunities are all part of the experience. So, grab a hot cocoa, enjoy a s’more, sip a seasonal cocktail and make the merriest of memories during your visit to the Holly Jolly Journey.

Opens the day after Thanksgiving and Closed Christmas Eve. Season ends January 11, 2026.

Going the Distance to See the Lights!

Santa’s Village
528 Presidential Highway, Jefferson, NH
Christmastime season at Santa’s Village can be extra special. Christmas carols in the air, the possibility of snow on the ground, about a million lights illuminating the park at dusk — a visit will put you in the holiday spirit. A visit to Santa’s Village is an outdoor experience that takes place in variable weather conditions, regardless of temperatures. Please plan for variable weather, and dress to spend the day outdoors. Tickets must be purchased online in advance.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens: Garden Aglow!
105 Botanical Gardens Drive, Boothbay, ME
The magic begins as darkness falls. Experience Nature in Motion at Gardens Aglow and see the Gardens come alive after dark! New England’s premier light show transforms the landscape into a glowing journey through scenes depicting the flora and fauna of Maine’s forests, shorelines, and meadows. Wander through tunnels of light, and discover two of our popular Trolls. Explore the patterns of nature’s movement this winter with the whole family. All tickets must be purchased in advance; no tickets will be sold onsite.

Running November 15 – January 3, 2026. Thursday through Sunday, plus select dates (Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, & Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day.) Arrival times every half hour 4 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. Event concludes at 9 p.m.

ZooLights at Stone Zoo
149 Pond St., Stoneham, MA
ZooLights is set to once again dazzle visitors of all ages! Step into Stone Zoo’s sparkling winter wonderland and stroll along tree-lined paths aglow with thousands of twinkling lights. As you discover festive displays throughout the Zoo, you may also see animal residents, including flamingos, black bears and reindeer – all adding to the holiday magic. 

November 14 – January 4, 2026.

Winter Wonderland at Southwick’s Zoo
2 Southwick St., Mendon, MA
This beloved festive tradition, perfect for family and friends, is set to shine brighter than ever before, featuring over 4 million illuminated lights and dazzling displays that will transform the Zoo into a winter wonderland. Enter a world of lights, music and fun. Enjoy a private visit with jolly man himself, Santa Claus, take in a show at the show arena, warm up with some scrumptious goodies, sip on some hot chocolate or hot toddies and walk amongst the brilliant holiday light displays.

November 22 – December 28, 2025.

Holiday Lights Spectacular at Roger Williams Park Zoo
1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence, RI
Bring family and friends to experience Holiday Lights Spectacular – an annual walk-through experience just in time for the holidays. Join them nightly for a dazzling light display through the Zoo. Featuring 40 acres of festive larger-than-life luminous displays, this year’s event is even bigger and brighter with more than 3 1/2 million illuminated.

November 28 – January 4, 2026

Edaville Holiday Festival of Lights
235 Main Street Carver, MA
This year, New England’s Holiday tradition at Edaville has been re-imagined – introducing audiences old and new to a brand new experience designed to bring families and friends together during the holiday season. The venue has transformed to feature both the classic appeal of festive lights along with meaningful seasonal experiences crafted to create lasting memories.
