National Night Out – Portsmouth

On Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, the Portsmouth Police Department and neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will be joining forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the ‘43rd Annual National Night Out Against Crime’. National Night Out (NNO), which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), will involve over 17,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 38 million people are expected to participate in ‘America’s National Night Out Against Crime’. NNO is spearheaded by the Portsmouth Citywide Neighborhood Committee, which is chaired by Colleen Ovecka. CNC members Colleen Ovecka and Christian Berling are coordinating this event.

The Portsmouth Fire Department and the Portsmouth Public Works Department are active participants and strong supporters of National Night Out.

From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, residents in neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will spend the evening outside with neighbors as well as police, fire, public works, and city and elected officials. Many neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, contests, youth activities, and games.
The following fifteen neighborhoods are participating this year:
Atlantic Heights (Big Rock Park – 13 Porpoise Way)
Elwyn Park (Adams Avenue)
The Cedars Condominiums (White Cedar Blvd. behind the Cedars clubhouse)
Gosling Meadows (Gosling Meadows Gazebo)
Spinnaker Point Condominiums (70 Spinnaker way; outdoor pool)
WAHOO (Wibird Street between Lincoln and Hawthorne Streets)
Friends of the South End (Four Tree Island)
Pannaway Manor (Pannaway Playground; Schurman Ave)
Creek Neighborhood (Pine Street Park)
Bersum Gardens (332 Leslie Drive)
Maple Haven (Maple Haven Park)
West End – Lafayette Park (Circle on Sewall Rd)
Woodlawn Circle / Echo Avenue (100 Woodlawn Circle)
Cliff Road and Walker Bungalow (49 Cliff Rd)
Islington Creek (Rock Street Park)
