The 8th Annual Fairy and Hobbit Festival at Bedrock Gardens, Oct. 12-14

Calling all fairies and hobbits! Bring your friends and family to Bedrock Gardens over the long holiday weekend (October 12, 13, 14) for some outdoor fun with a touch of magic. A three-day festival to celebrate creativity, imagination, nature, play, and lore in our enchanted woodlands.

Come in Costume!
Fairy wings, elf ears, flowing beards, and glittering gowns are all strongly encouraged. From Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter to The Never Ending Story — we can’t wait to see what you dream up.

Enter the Enchanted Woodland Village and enjoy some of these activities…

Get a personalized fairy or hobbit name from the Woodland Folk.

Stock up at Gnome Depot
Pick out some natural building supplies to build a fairy house along the entrance trail. Use your imagination and get as creative as possible so the fairies, hobbits, elves, and gnomes can use them happily all winter.

Create a sachet with herbal fairy dust to take on your journey. (Put it under your pillow that night and you will have the most wonderful dreams.)

Get your face painted from 10AM – 12PM or 1 – 3PM.

Hear whimsical tales from storyteller Michael Lang.

Bedrock’s Queen Bee will be buzzing around and hosting honey tastings! Honey made by Bedrock’s bees will be for sale, as well as bees wax candles and other bee-loved goodies.

And don’t miss the grande dame of the festival, Bedrock’s very own Fairy Godmother! She will read stories out in the gardens, show you how to make a magic wand just like hers, and answer any questions you may have about magical woodland beings (as she knows them all personally).

Cast Your Votes
Before you leave, be sure your entire party casts their votes in our Designer Fairy and Hobbit House Contest. You will be wowed by the craftmanship! Contestants spend months building ornate designer houses decked out with some of the most in vogue woodland trends and amenities, like wall-to-wall moss carpeting, bark roofs, lily-pad beds, and beech-leaf curtains. First prize wins a Family Membership to Bedrock Gardens. Want to be a contestant? Read our rules and regulations and sign up here.

All For a Good Cause
This event serves as Bedrock Gardens’ annual fundraiser and all tickets sold will go to support the dynamic, 30-acre public garden and cultural center that integrates unusual botanical specimens and unique sculpture into an inspiring landscape journey. Weekly events and educational programming for children and adults celebrate gardening, nature, art, craft and wellness, while building a strong sense of community.

“Children are innately imaginative and curious about nature, and so much important learning comes from that. The Fairy and Hobbit House Festival creates a wonderful opportunity where parents can encourage curiosity about the plants, animals, science and magic that can be found in their own backyards, and join their kids in the fun,” said Executive Director John Forti. “This festival has become a popular tradition on the Seacoast in autumn, and invites everyone to join us in wrapping up another great year at Bedrock Gardens.”
